      • I don't know Amanda as well as I'd like, so
        I'll just make this up:

I don't meet many people like Amanda.
Most people are named Tom or Jake or
Cindy, but not her. She's named
        Amanda.

I think she holds the world to a higher
standard than the world would prefer.

She's a bit of an enigma. Uniquely
honest. But I'm afraid there's too much
going on in her head for honesty to be of
any help in fully figuring her out. She
seems to like volcanoes and tornadoes.
So I suspect she also likes other natural
        disasters, or toes.

Oneday, I want to see Amanda when she
is angry. But not at me. Because I bet
she would be very good at it.

I'm glad she's on our side.

      • amanda is staggeringly honest. "first
impression: cold and mean or warm and
friendly depending on what she wants
from you and how she's going to get
it." amanda is ruthless when she has a
        vision. but there's something
        endearing about her superhero game.
she _is_ a superhero, but is also a
clark kent: dorky and sweet and full of
genuine love for the people in her
life. i wish i was in that salmon-
colored apartment with my dear anna and
my dear amanda. and (amanda's most
        secret and powerful superhero):
        Flattula, goddess of rectal emissions.

      • I still feel guilty about the last time
Amanda was visiting Providence, and I
made some obnoxious comment about how
she wanted to buy a painting that cost
a lot of money. Amanda, I'm sorry I did
        that. You SHOULD buy art.

that Amanda has to take His place, because
the Trinity, minus a woman and microscopic
knowledge, has become dry and incomplete.
Christ is replaced by the Sun. Amanda is
Christ on earth in the person of the Holy
Ghost. She is also destined, later, to become
Elizabeth of England. It is she who will reveal
religions and bear on her shoulders the
freedom and the sins of the earth changed
into Knowledge, the union of God and the
        Cosmos, all equal between them.

      • I'm all shook up over this gal; didn't even have
to visit Las Vegas to see the best damn Elvis
talent. She's got numerical smarts, a kind
heart, and a damn fine set of wheels to give
        them fresh air.

      • Amanda is fantastic. She was my
first-ever crush at Brown. She used
to work in the computer lab every
        morning. I was so infatuated
with/intimidated by her I'd scurry past
her with my head down and hope
she didn't notice me. She probably
        didn't. What a bitch!

      • I once caught Mandikins in my kitchen
singing "Love is a Battlefield" wearing
a flowered shower cap, pink boa and
nothing else. It scared me and I
        haven't tread downstairs since. Her
        feet are gnarled.

      • This one time, I ran into this girl in rome, and
it turned out we were on the same flight back
home, and we sat next to eachother and
giggled through airplane movies and drank
free minature bottles of wine and stole lime
green airplane pillows together (ok maybe just
i did). brown leaves a hazy memory in my
brain, but i sure remember amanda. how
could i forget those crazy co-op hippies. i'm
just kidding. she's not a hippy. or crazy. she's
just from new mexico. what a great gal.
