Favorite Books:
John Irving and John Steinbeck are my favorite authors. I like to read one classic for every two contemporary books. Keepin' it real. I just finished "Lord Jim" by Joseph Conrad, before that it was "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho, "Dress Your Family In Corduroy and Denim, " by David Sedaris and "On The Road" by Jack Kerouac. Now I'm reading and "Another Roadside Attraction" by Tom Robbins and I just started "The Chronicles of Narnia, " by C.S. Lewis - I never read them as a kid. Did you know that Lewis and Tolkien were buddies as kids. Then they were part of a writing group called "The Inklings" that would meet over beers at the local pub to talk over story ideas? I've found lots of similarities between Lewis' "Narnia" and Tolkien's "Middle Earth." Now I know why. I thought that was pretty cool.

About Me:
I love to travel and am fortunate enough to get to travel a lot with my job. Recently I've been to Samoa, Guam and Midway Island, and in March I head to the Marshall Islands: Majuro and Kwajalein. This summer I'll spend time up in SE Alaska around Juneau and Glacier Bay. It's not as fun as travelling for fun (which I also love to do, but who doesn't?), but it's close. It sometimes cracks me up that they pay me to dive in exotic places.
I'm a big sports fan. Especially UW Husky football and basketball. Football is my favorite pro sport, but baseball is a close second (Go Mariners!). Music is a huge part of my life too. I played trombone from 5th grade through college jazz band. I play a little guitar now, but I'm learning how to play the drums now thanks to my friend Dan Weber.
I like to read, especially when I travel. I love kids. Most of my friends have at least one, so I get a lot of kid time. My Godson, little Stevie, is my best little buddy, but there are a bunch of others who are giving him a run for his money, namely Maggie Jane (MJ), Mia and my Goddaughter Hanna Moon.
My family is spread up and down the I-5 corridor, but my friends are like family to me and I'm lucky that they treat me like part of their families. A few of the kids have taken to calling me "Uncle Cheese" since Steve is a little hard to pronounce when you're little. I think that rules.
I bartended in Fremont for a long time and made a lot of friends there. Now it's fun to go back out in the neighborhood and party with my friends from those days. I live in Ballard now, dangerously close to a hundred bars. Livers regenerate, right? Or is that kidneys?
