strangers think is a rockstar (they try
and guess his name, pointing at me on
the side walk). i say, he wrote of
marxism and theire faces look like they
are trying to juice lemons between their
cheeks. then i laugh an elitest cocky
laugh and think, i really need to finish
that gramsci homework from last year.
i miss you andy. one day. ...one day.
to let some of his friends take me to
midwest grrl fest, and my life was never
the same again. Then, when I wrote a
zine a few months later he taught me
various methods of scamming copies.
Over the next 3 years of agonizing
adolescence Andy always made sure I
had zines to read, and patiently let me
tag along with him to punk shows and
music fests. Were it not for him I very
easily could have become a leather-
jacket-wearing generic dyke, a fate I am
desperately thankful to have been saved
from.
and my sister hung out. He went up to
our cottage with us and did backflips off
the tube [behind a speeding boat]. He
also gave me a necklace with a little
black face on a string. I probably asked
him for it actually. But he gave it to me,
cuz that's the kind of person he is.
upside the head and dragged me out of
the monotany that was highschool...who
knew terrorizing mean teachers could
be so fun (Swabible...remember that
one?). He was the prom king and I was
the prom queen and everyone thought it
was a conspiracy (including me...Andy
asked me when the pig's blood was
going to fall while we were
being "crowned" in front of everyone
with their mouths haning open in sheer
and utter shock)... He was wearing a
white suit with a silver cumberbunt
and bowtie, and I was wearing a
Chiquita banana dress...it was
beautiful (and the pig's blood never
did fall, but it would have been sweet
if it had).
thoroughly enjoy every game we play
YAY! we need to hang out more in new
york you wild child
Cornell...or have I??? The fact that he
still lists Cap'n Jazz and Huggy Bear
cracks my ass up. Oh, dear, I remember
back in the day...to Andy, the day is
mutha fuckin' back with a vengance.
That's so freaking wicked butter
i were doing food not bombs in grand
rapids. he had jumped in this huge
fountain, grabbed a piece of hose, and
was pretending to be a water shooting
statue. that was in '97, i can only
imagine what this boy is like today!
he always made me laugh and for that
i'll love him forever. <3
His friendly demeanor reminds me to
stop mentally reviewing my list of
things to do and just smile. We've had
too few adventures for him to skip town
so soon.
