the concentration of a great deal of psychological and emotional energy on one
particular person, thing or idea.

October 2005 Cathexis was formed in the College of Fine Arts, University of the Philippines Diliman. In psychodynamics, cathexis is defined as the process of investment of mental or emotional energy in a person, object, or idea. The band chose this as their name because they aim to apply it as the theme for their songs. Their chosen genre is melodic rock. Their songs are mostly centered on emotions, and experiences accompanied by poetry like lyrics with melodious vocals, heart-pounding stops of classical keyboard notes twined with progressive guitar riffs.
Directly after the release of their first song "Talisuyo 2 (Hintay)" in manila film festival as an official music soundtrack of the movie Shake Rattle and Roll 9, the band's music became very well appreciated specially in the underground scene.
Members are Tza Gomez (22) on Lead vocals, Romel Sales (26) on bass, Val Munar (19) on lead guitars, Deo Beltran (19) on rhythm guitar, Ivan Averion (19) on drums and Marvin Cruz (23) on keyboards
Now their music is sometimes played on NU 107.5fm in their program In the Raw, URock, and remote control weekend.
And soon on RJ Underground Radio (the best for indie bands).
