i think of rafter
(and that's meant in the best possible way)
Being friends with rafter is like the story of jenny who steps off the bus one evening into the cold cold rain to realize that shes left her car headlights on all day, and figures shell be walking an hour home in that cold cold rain, so she heads north to try to find a warm place to sit for a bit, and theres rafter framed in the chinese restaurant window! singing in polish, which he doesnt understand, but carries off beautifully, and they hold a concert in his truck in the parking lot so they can sing and rock out while jennys little car is recharging, and they find a potato next to some cherry trees marked crabapple, and jenny isnt so lonely anymore, and she visits him every year on that day to reopen the big red concert venue and sing with him in polish which she learned from library audio tapes, and it's a sweet deal all around.

you are a real sweetheart and if i were five again i would want you in my playgroup and if i were ten i'd pick you first for my dodgeball team and if i were 15 i'd ask you to the semi-formal (so we could get down in style - as we so often do) and if i were 20 i'd take you on a spring break adventure with me and if i were 25, well that'd be just a year ago, so we'd probably do all those things we did a year ago AND some. anyway, you are loved.
