About Me:
dORkStaR* is a Jogja-based band that plays upbeat poppish songs with a healthy mix of fuck-all attitude and childlike cheerfulness. Started off as a solo project, after much hard work, iced coffee, a string of lucky coincidences, countless help and a couple of bottles from friends, a few samples were made and the band ended up a five-piece by May 2006.
'Healthy mix' is also the keyphrase to describe the members' richly differing musical interest and personal background: from rock, classical, punk, mainstream pop to alternative, indie, britpop and the lot; from apocalyptic nerd to professional musician. One thing we share in common is our love of music, and that one is enough.
What dORkStaR* is really about, then? Maybe it's about friends; maybe it's about not giving up, about diversity, lots other wacky crap. But we think it's also about having fun and playing music for the hell of it.... because hey, we enjoy it!
So come and join the happy madness -- it'd be great to hear from YOU and your band, so give us a holler if you want!
