About Me:
The first and self-titled album of Fuseboxx is simply the ultimate package for any prog-rock purists out there. Leading the Philippines Prog-Rock scene, Fuseboxx brings plenty of different musical elements to the table. Never have I heard of a band from Philippines that boasts to have crossed so many genres of music and yet never fails to remind their listeners the true essence of genuine creativity.
1. Switch (4:54) - First track of the album. Starts off with what sounds to me effects from Erics' synthesizers followed by the rest of the band members with their respective instruments. They play a progression until 1:30 into the song and break into what seems to me two people debating and serves as the premonition of Abby's haunting voice that will rule throughout the entire album. [4/5]
2. 11:38 (6:23) - Albert's guitar-playing shines here. I hear the familiar 2-string up-and down stroke sound I usually hear from NU-metal bands. The guitar section of the band does a great a job on this track and Rodney's bass surfaces here to add crunch to the guitar sound. [3.8/5]
3. ulanArao (5:31) - Soothing keyboards. Followed by a thundering sound. Then surprises you with metal riff that goes on until 0:40 into the song. This is the only tagalog track in the album. The verses are accompanied by a more mellow rock vibe to match the songs' moody lyrics. The first verse goes Nangangamba ang puso ko sa pagdating nitong ulan/Nagiisip kung paano mapapawi itong lumbay. 3:10 into the song, comes one of my favorite forms of showing guitar skills... you guessed it right! guitar Solo!.. it goes on for about 30 secs and followed by a not-so-disappointing breakdown by Albert. The song ends with Abbys' keyboards followed by a thundering sound (sounds familiar?). That's ulanArao. [4.3/5]
4. breathe ( 5:28 ) - Synths... drums and bass... synths... guitar...
An up-tempo song with a catchy chorus. I really like Abby's singing on this one. It shows the rock version of her usuall melodic voice. Not forced out of the lungs but not too soft for rock. Just right. I love the pinch-harmonics in this song; once again Albert does a great job along with Herson's drum fills especially the chorus part. 3:50 into the song breaks into what I think a long fill or breakdown. It ends with pinch harmonics and a short synth rythm. [4.5/5]
5. outlet I (4:35) - First of the 5 part epic (as I like to call it) Bacisally, they put everything here that is touched by their musical knowledge. Every instrument has its own moment on this track. I hear funk influence here but that's just me. I give this [3.2/5]
6. outlet II (5:25) - In my opinion, the most likeable and commercialized song written on this album. It is the heaviest of the the five part-epic but still keeping the emotional feeling intended to please even the most apathetic listeners. A [4.6/5]
7. interlude (2:35) - III breaks into Interlude. It still continues to bring the same chaotic sound that III had left up until about 0:37. The mood immediately changes from that point then. The rest is nothing but amazing. [4.4/5]
8. Outlet IV (8:16) - The beginning brings a melodic thrashy feeling to it. The most guitar-oriented track on this album in my opinion. If you like leads and metal rythms, I recommend this track to you. This track can potentially make most proclaimed rock bands in the Philippines look like a bunch of teeny boppers you often see in t.v. soap operas. Every member of the band shines here but I gotta say Albert and Rodney both f**kin owned this one. My favorite track on this album. Ill give it a [4.8/5]
9. outlet III (radio edit) (4:40) - Basically, I prefer this version over its original version. Notice I didn't rate the other radio edit song. Same on this one. You'll have to develop your own perspective because I think there's not much difference.
