didn't pick me up and hold me upside down
like some other people who shall remain
nameless. i kept a sharp eye on him for a
while - smelling the other cats' hair on him
and watching for sudden movements. when
everyone else had ditched me and tony was
the only one that thought to give me food, i
knew he was a keeper. i gave him a little of
the ol' Trebek lovin, and i know he'll do
whatever i want him to now. never fails.
to live with Broken Tony, and I tell
them the truth. "It's like anything

privacy won't let me reveal is the
bottle of Ol' Grand Dad between us as
we sit at the kitchen table, the sake
shots we take, the morning Coronas, the
tofurkey kielbasa we eat, the notes on
the bathroom mirror, the laughter that
travels across our two rooms as we
watch the same show on separate tv's,
the screaming matches that turn into
concilitory tears. What I often say is
that living with Tony is kind of like
being on Oprah, but without the free
gifts.
