About Me:
I am nothing like this, but I like this:
He who is wise sees near and far
As the same,
Does not despise the small
Or value the great:
Where all standards differ
How can you compare?
With one glance
He takes in past and present,
Without sorrow for the past
Or impatience with the present.
All is in movement.
He has experience
Of fullness and emptiness.
He does not rejoice in success
Or lament in failure
The game is never over
Birth and death are even
The terms are not final.
~ Chuang Tzu, post-careerist, circa 300 B.C.

happy cherub of the Beegs, my greatest pal. That's
enough for me. But beyond that, he's mannerly and
devious at the same time; a dark wordsmith, quick with
wit and full of insight. Damn, I like them Virgos.
never annoys me. That's just plain
weird. Why don't you get on my nerves
Sass? And he's funny and alarmingly un-
cranky on Mondays.
through the quandries of life. he is my
guide. he is my hero. he is... umm...
well ok- maybe none of that is really
true. BUT... he was kind enough to
pilot me around the stockton delta one
sunny california weekend. and he did a
right swell job at it. plus when he
crashed us into that other houseboat...
a lesser captain might have lost his or
her proverbial marbles... but not adam.
cool as a penguin's ass he cracked open
another brewski and floated us all off
into the shimmering sunset... all the
while flipping off the dock crew and
blasting ac/dc on the radio....
ummm... ok. that last part isn't
entirely veritudinous either. but i'm
convinced if things were to have
happened in exactly that manner, adam
would have made it all look VERY cool
and stylish and stuff.
LookSmart that surely a young man as
good-looking, literary, polite and
refined as Adam must be gay. Then he
took up with the Beegs and the ladies
of the land of Look were like, damn. I
must stress however that he is lucky to
have a quality hot mamma like the
Beegs, and he better remember that.
Back to Adam. The best way to enjoy
Adam's company is while drinking scotch
outdoors at Lake Tahoe, or perhaps
while chilling on his famous rented
houseboat. Do not try to talk to Adam
while he's fishing. He's busy then.
Adam is generous, thoughtful and kind.
Treat him well. He deserves it.
Also: Adam saved the lives of many this
June while on a camping trip. He was
about to feed us all some mussels he
gathered on the beach, but he asked the
ranger first. The ranger informed him
that those mussels would probably
paralyze and kill us. Now, a lot of
guys would have thought it was funny to
feed his friends those deadly mussels.
NOT ADAM, THOUGH. Now that's friendship.
people about Adam, and I'm just glad
there's finally this service for
disseminating vital public health
warnings. The real problem, of
course, is that we never designed him
to exist outside laboratory
quarantine. That's how we got the
proposal through the approval
committee - we had good science
showing he wouldn't last more than
five minutes on the street. I still
can't account for it, at least not
until we can retrieve him and conduct
a thorough autopsy. Instead he seems
to be flourishing, and for now we
don't have any effective
countermeasures. The first two teams
of primatologists we sent simply
disappeared, and the CDC won't go near
him. If you spot him in the
community, please, be careful, and try
to sedate him. Gin administered
orally in a tonic solution is most
effective; beer a close second. Once
you've downed him, get on the phone to
Los Alamos - they'll know how to reach
me.
piece of that action, because he is
very cute, and his gigantic, sensitive,
and intelligent heart is filled with
love. In addition, he likes small furry
animals, especially cats and otters,
but that does NOT make him a furry
fetishist. Did I mention that he is
cute?
