Elliott Yamin:
- is an American singer who is best known for being the third place finalist on the fifth season of American Idol.
- was born on July 20, 1978 in Los Angeles, California.
He is 90% deaf in his right ear. At the age of sixteen, Yamin was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and has to wear an insulin pump, like another American Idol performer, Kevin Covais.
- He is known as a humble, caring, sensitive man, one not afraid to cry in public, Yamin was a well-liked contender among Idol producers, judges (especially Paula Abdul, who called him her "favorite", and used to call him "one funky white boy"), the Idol staff and band, and the other Idol contestants. Simon Cowell said that after five seasons, he potentially was the "best male vocalist ever" on American Idol; Cowell later told Jay Leno that Yamin was one of the nicest contestants ever on American Idol.
- He released his self-titled debut album, "Elliott Yamin," on March 20, 2007, with SONY Hickory Records, and RED Distribution Records.
- His album sold more than 96,000 units making his album the first independent album to have sold that amount.
- After the May 16 American Idol live performance of "Wait For You," CD and single sales jumped high on charts such as Amazon (86 to 6), iTunes (11 to 3), Independent Sales chart (6 to 3)and much more.
