they had this grand plan to head to
Oklahoma City and get the hell out of
Norman once and for all. So they

water each, and a change of clothes and
packed it all into plastic grocery
bags. It was at this point that they
realized they traded Liana's '84
Chevette for that second 6-pack of
beer. This is also the same night that
Liana claimed to see a UFO piloted by
leprechauns.

To begin: the dominant impression Liana gives
off upon first meeting is one of complexity
and, to a certain degree, a rather juxtaposed
banal exoticism. Knowing Liana now for a few
years I can say without hesitation that my
initial impressions of Liana have been
eradicated. Don't misunderstand me, I am not
trying to make the case that Liana is a simple,
automaton totally devoid of complexity,
character, or subtlety. Nevertheless, the
shining characteristic of her personality --
even if it is occasionally embarrassing for a
cynic like myself to witness -- is love and
charity. She's also quite a good listener. The
difference between a friend and a mildly
humbling acquaintance is that a friend will
listen and assemble an understanding of
holistic being whereas the immaculately-
dressed person you sat next to and shared
hopes, dreams, ideas, and a couple classes
with will never even recall your name in a
year's time.
And, conversely, I think I'll remember Liana's
name for a long while.
