depths of New York academic publishing
conceal many a treacherous whirlpool.
As I stumbled into the Morgue that
Monday morning, I could feel myself
being sucked into one. In store for me?
A full week(!) of training some young
upstart--fresh off the bus from Athens,
GA--in how to be a Guilford production
editor. I groaned to think of the endless
TALKING this would entail: receipts of
proofs, NTAs, and of course those Lotus
Notes EOMs! Well, I was right: I did talk
and talk...and listen...and LAUGH...and
eagerly talk some more. Imagine: real
laughter IN THE MORGUE!! My task
was easy--Jennifer mastered the job in
the blink of an eye. But infinitely more
important, that Monday I met the most
delightful, admirable, sweet, smart,
sexy, and wickedly funny gal to tether
her canoe on these shores in a long,
long time. She must have absorbed an
awful lot of Georgia sunshine because
she's been dazzling these grim Gotham
offices every day since. Thanks, Jen!
buddy. She's the coolest. My
Manhatten friend may soon end up
there. All the more reason to visit
NYC. In the meantime, I'll continue to
accompany her to any "Dare to Dream"
events around. Now THAT'S a bonding
experience. A-hem.
decided that we were both restless so we
rented Vernon Florida. Realizing
immediately after the movie was over
that the empty spaces in our souls still
had not been filled; we decided to eat
some pie and discuss History of Danish
Dreams. Exhausted from such a
stimulating and fun day I finally laid
down to rest. Just before falling asleep
I thought, we will be friends forever.....
is super nice, super able to deal with
any situation, smarter than a whip and
definately full of factual information
about everything (she can probably
tell us where osama is) but first she
would have to delight us with her
FAMOUS cooking skills...she puts
moosewood to shame! We love Jen and so
should you!
through good dating tactics. Though she
was anecdotally initimidating, once I
met her in person I figured out that
things were going to be fine. Every
time we're togther, I know I'm going to
have a good time. She's always got the
right line and can make even the most
mundane tasks a memorable experience.
in school. Jennifer rocks and I know
when we go out we will always have
unexpected fun. She has a big heart
and cares deeply for all of her
friends. I have known her for some
time but only recently have become
very good friends with her. I am
lucky to have her as a friend.
First, which ain't half bad as a
starting place. cool, queenly
exterior, but underneath beats the
fiery Italian heart. beware the wrath
of ms. deprima, for she is absolutely
willing to rip you a new one. and i
admire that in a friend.
she'll also be horrified when she sees
she missed an L in Philadelphia, which
is nice. it's good to have a word nerd
friend who doesn't make fun of me for
caring that people use "comprise"
wrong all the damn time.
oh yeah, and she's cute as hell, even
when she's only a question mark.
