        We are a different kind of religious community. We are non-creedal, non-dogmatic, and progressive. Many of us are Christian, but we don't stop at that. We welcome insights of all religions.

        We don't claim to have all the answers. We think it's okay to question, seek and reflect on what is true and good. We don't put God in a box. The Spirit of Life is too great for that.

        We think that God is still speaking, and that revelation doesn't stop with the Bible but continues in our reason, our hearts, and our consciences. We believe that every soul should have the freedom to make his own personal theology and not conform to a theology that someone else has set into words, no matter how orthodox it is. Life is a spiritual journey, and we must support each other in that journey. The following Unitarian Universalist saying says it all:

        "Love is the doctrine of this community, the quest of truth is its sacrament and service is its prayer. To dwell together in peace. To seek knowledge in freedom. To serve humankind in fellowship to the end that all souls shall grow in harmony with the divine. This do we covenant with each other and with God."

        We are a welcoming congregation for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgenders who feel alienated by traditional Christian/religious groups and are seeking a more accepting religious tradition.

        We are striving to be a progressive religious voice here in the Philippines.

        We have a Quezon City UU Group that meets every first Sunday night of the Month.

        We also have a simple worship service in the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Bicutan, Taguig, every Sunday at 3 p.m. Contact Bob for details. 0917 532 4785.

      • Part 2. Or maybe I was just too consumed by my catholic environment when I was younger that I never really became aware of spiritual beliefs that are outside of the ones that I've been accustomed to. But then I grew up and questions are already popping out of my mind. Questions that can't seem to be answered by the status quo of my current spiritual beliefs. I need to go out of the box, because the conservative ideals of the cave that I used to be in is hurting me now more than ever. But of course, coming out of the box is not without its consequences. For one thing, I don't think that would be easy for me to explain to my friends and love ones that the couple of UU meetings that I've attended is not a cult session. That's already a gigantic task to do in itself. Well, now UU knows why I've skipped a lot of meetings. Haha! As much as I want to come out of the cave, there are some things I can't let go of. But a part of me really hopes for the success of this organization. =)

      • Part 1. A random day of web surfing made me answer an online test that should determine the religion that best suits my current philosophy. The result that was on top was UU. I said to myself, "What the hell is UU?" I took the test again, and made some minor changes of the answers that I wasn't really that sure of, and the result was the same. It's UU again. I wikipedia this church and found out that its members are in the hundreds of thousands. That's worldwide, I guess. My first impression was, this organization is still in a 'cult' status since it doesn't have the needed numbers yet. LOL! Well, maybe if you add a few gajillion members later, then it becomes a church. Well, that's how I see it. It's just a numbers game. It's the line that separates the cult from the church. But it's not the issue of numbers that got me interested with this organization, but the ideas it upholds. The idea of a full religious liberalism is something that I never thought to exist.

      • I used to be a Catholic, but since I found Unitarian Universalism my spirituality has really been enriched. For me it is a religious tradition more in tune with the times because it's non-creedal. We use our reason, our consciences, and our hearts to determine what is true, what is good, and what is right. We don't rely on and doctrines because, as Steve Jobs said, when we do that "we rely on other people's thinking." This is important because as times change, people's understanding changes, knowledge grows through science, and old beliefs and mindsets no longer apply.

        UU encourages everybody to think, reflect, and question. After all that was how Jesus was wasn't he? He didn't come down and accept the world and its laws as is. He questioned. he believed that love was higher than law.

        If you want to be Christian, or spiritual, but cannot accept Church doctrines on biblical inerrancy, homosexuality, divorce, contraception, papal infallibility, then maybe UU is for you.
