never risen to the occasion. Why would
he, when he is the very definition of
the occasion? Many a time, sitting with
acquaintances and friends at a table in
a restaurant is like entering a war
zone. There's a coldfront towards the
east; a flurry of bullets raining from
the west. Seeing Peter across such a
table renews my will to fight back.
He's courage incarnate; he has a witty
remark and smile for every occasion;
and of course, he's packing mad heat.
You talk to many people in the day, but
Peter's a man you look forward to
seeing. Exchanging stories and insight
with him pales only in comparison to
joining him in describing a shared
experience. If a man is defined by his
composure in the face of adversity, the
dignity he affords himself and others,
and the expression he conveys in his
words and his deeds; then Peter is a
prince amongst fools. I can but pray to
be his sirrah.
experience true generosity of body,
mind and spirit. To say that the man
is selfless is to recognize the sheer
inadequacy of that word to describe
his quality. He is a man who will
give you the shirt off his back, the
last dollar in his pocket, and the Top
Dog he bought for lunch. Why?
Because that is how he defines the
meaning of the word "friend." The
world would be a much better place if
we all adopted his dictionary.
talk about Peter as Cicero did when
describing his friends--Peter's
friendship improves happiness and
abates misery, by the doubling of joy
and the dividing of grief. Wherever he
goes and whatever his mood, you can
count on Peter to come with the single
goal of making the room happier and
making us all laugh. Everyone who
knows him knows of his grace under
pressure, his discretion, and his
passion for experiencing life. To know
him is to learn how to live, and not
merely exist. Peter has redefined the
meaning of what it takes to be a
friend, and I have the feeling that no
matter how old he gets, he will still
have an easy laugh and the ability to
light up any room. I'd sum it all up
with something he told me in the depth
of winter: always remember that all
around us, there is an invincible
summer.
Keller, Reichl, Kunze,
Bourdain..Peter's able to use these
names interchangeably and effortlessly
as baseball players; that's why I know
he and I would be best of friends.
kidding. He loves enjoyment and
happiness in life. If you're a female,
and you're reasonably attractive
(don't bother applying if y're
nasty) , this dude is the
greatest....all that and a bag of
chips. You'll be happy for the rest of
your life. I can promise you that...
Peace,

professional understates the case both
in terms of scope and degree. He is
the consummate friend, advisor,
confidante, adventurer, and above all,
he is always ready for a good time. In
a word, he is the most decent man of
our time.
hesitate to sing a Backstreet Boys
song in front of large crowds. Truly
a man for all seasons.
