i sometimes think my life is a combination of great luck and good karma, but others remind me that i do have a knack for strategery. in any case, im thrilled to have the government cover an all-expenses-paid year off in chiang mai, thailand, where i continue my passion for the pursuit of social justice in medicine. some issues that i am looking into working on this year include iv drug use and treatment, methamphetamine use in young adults (ages 18-25), community-based voluntary counseling and testing for HIV, antibiotic resistance in the ICU setting, and access to health care for marginalized populations in Thailand. i am going to be in CM until may 2007ish, and then will return to finish my final year of med school at UMMS. outside of work, i am really lucky to have kickass family and friends..i recently got married to chris in my parents' backyard and spent some time in brazil with him on our honeymoon before heading to thailand. chris and i are enjoying our married lives and going on many adventures together in se asia. :)
