EARTH DAY 2008: CELEBRATE ABRA'S BEAUTY
Nature benefits us, Abrenios in many unexpected ways. Whether you're a kid playing "lit-littuok" or "bain-bain," a teenager finding a spot to swim or watch the sunset, a bird-watcher or a hunter, a biker or a hiker, a photographer or a traveler, a cancer patient, a furniture maker, a biologist or a naturalist, a farmer or a fisherman.
Wildlands purify water and air, control floods and keep diseases in check. Nature nurtures and heals us. We don't even need to travel to all corners of the Earth to find places of beauty.
Today, on Earth Day 2008, we celebrate Abra's beauty. And here's a video on why we must preserve it. CONVERSATIONS WITH SAMUEL DAPAPA Samuel Dupan Dapapa, though he was born in Kalinga, is a proud Abrenian. He is a retired teacher who has already received two national awards, the Presidential Award and the Datu Sibug Award, both in recognition for his outstanding service rendered to the indigenous people.
In this first edition of Conversations, Samuel or Sami as he is fondly called, talks about one of his soon-to-be-published books and reminds us the importance of knowing and learning from our past. I LOVE ABRA

In this second edition of Abra 360º, we take you to a delightful trip to Pidigan Town Plaza. Here you can marvel at the relatively new Town Hall, Gabriela Silang monument, Pidigan's two churches - the now-abandoned 1824 brick church and Church of Immaculate Conception of Mary and mixture of houses both old and new. HELP US TELL ABRA'S STORY We're launching this campaign ad today in commemoration of the 162nd anniversary of the creation of Abra as an independent province last October 9th.
I know this ad may sound or look too ambitious, but at least we should start somewhere... IN MEMORY OF THE 21 MARTYRS On November 16, 1943, 21 servicemen were burned alive by the Japanese soldiers at a bamboo house in Angad, Bangued. A monument dedicated to them used to sit at the western side of the basketball court of Bangued Town Plaza. Unfortunately, the past administration removed it some years ago.
Though we were unable to locate where that monument is now, we hope this video will immortalize the 21 soldiers' supreme sacrifice, bravery and selflessness. EXPERIENCE ABRA
