About Me:
Yeah, so the electoral results are still really upsetting me. I'm having thoughts of wanting to put the Band back together. The Band, in this case, being my old student environmental crew that used to win all sorts of crazy victories. Instead I'm enrolled in a PhD program, studying political science. Give me three more years and I'll be able to explain the *exact* arrangement of the deck chairs as the titanic sinks. Academia has its moments, but the world is going to hell and I feel guilt-ridden that I'm not out there doing something about it.
-----------------------
Hmm, well that was both depressing and cathartic. When I'm not busy worrying about the fate of the planet, I watch too many movies, swing dance a lot, hurt my knee while swing dancing a lot, play poker while my knee recovers, lather, rinse, and repeat. I wear sports jackets and wide-leg pants that look *really* good while dancing, I swear. I'd have better style if Asheley Smith were still around to tell me I have no fasion sense. She's not, so I recommend blaming her. I have interesting intellectual habits and a very odd memory. I'm mostly getting a PhD so I can be considered "eccentric" instead of just plain "weird." I keep a megaphone in the trunk of my car, just in case. I keep finding out about great bands that my close friends have listened to for years. Nobody tells me anything...

Who I Want to Meet:
Jane from "Kicking and Screaming."; Or at least someone I
can carry on a good conversation with.
Young progressives who want to figure out how we're going to stop Armageddon from being unleashed (by Karl Rove). Seriously, shit's about to get bad and we need some new ideas for how to stop it. Sierra Student Coalition alums: this means you.
People who live in Philadelphia. After a year living here, I realized that all my local friendships were based on taking each others' money every week. My new strategy for making friends is to sit at the Green Line Cafe for a few hours a day and just assume that I will achieve friendship-by-osmosis. It's starting to work, too...

Also, for the record, your parties - while rife with drinking, gambling, body shots, and people going down on each other in your parents' bedroom - are always worth the trip.
