Emory University, Attended - , Class of , Other, Film Studies / English
-
Occupation:
cautionary tale
-
Hobbies and Interests:
mentally recreating pivotal moments in my life and inserting snappier dialogue, driving vast distances, tiki bars, lamenting my unrealized potential (and then rolling over and going back to sleep), harebrained schemes, carbohydrate advocacy, amtrak, the lyrical stylings of r kelly
-
Favorite Books:
East of Eden, Valley of the Dolls, In Cold Blood, The Master and Margarita, Absalom Absalom!, Ham on Rye, The New Roadside America, anything that Flannery O'Connor or Dorothy Parker got it into their respectively genius heads to write, Elvis and Me, May this House Be Safe from Tigers, I Should Have Kissed Her More.
-
Favorite Movies:
Any Huston/Bogart collaboration (especially Treasure of the Sierra Madre), Minnie and Moskowitz, The Big Country, all Nicholas Ray, Shock Corridor, any Godard that is in b/w + Pierrot le fou, Kitten with a Whip, Camille, Playtime, Rome Adventure, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, all Hal Ashby (except Shampoo), all Mike Nichols (no exceptions)

Favorite TV Shows:
I'll watch anything. My lack of discrimination is appalling. I have an especially unnatural fondness for any reality show that repeatedly features the line 'The claws are starting to come out!' (hot tub scenes optional, but preferred)

Zodiac Sign:
Virgo
-
About Me:
A weird mix of compassion and misanthropy.
I find the crushing weight of my love for Stellan Skarsgard to be alternately destructive and redemptive.

Who I Want to Meet:
People with strong chins. People who think that 8 hours is a fairly insignificant drive time if there is an interesting example of 1950s programmatic architecture at the end of it. People who have never (and would never) use the word 'party' as a verb. People who can't sing but love karaoke. People who can suggest vegan restaurants in the Los Angeles area that I don't already frequent. People who exhibit a healthy (or, better yet: flagrantly unhealthy) appreciation for Harry Dean Stanton. People who think that Paradise Hotel was an important sociological experiment. People who use their grocery money to see movies. People who don't mistake kindness for naivete. Classy broads. Underdogs. Dennis Kucinich (sigh).

was like 13 and started going to the
wrocklage, when she wore those
striped tights and had bleached hair
and was VERY intimidating. i knew her
before then, when we took swim
lessons together, but she probably
doesn't remember. i hope you people in
california treat her right.
getting to know her was one of the
better things that happened to me in
2003. Okay, maybe hardly anything
good happened last year relatively
speaking, but meeting her would
have been oh-yay-nice in any sort of
year. She is funny and smart and
likes the 80s but not because of the
80s revival. She is indie but not
twee, stylish but not trendy, draped-
in-scarves but not emo. She made a
key difference on the daytime
television feature, The View. Lucy,
also known as Faye in some circles,
introduced me to the pleasures of
Average Joe and will initiate me into
the mysteries of Showgirls at some
undetermined time in the near future.
She is clearly improving the quality of
my life, and it hasn't even been six
months since she first friendstered
me. Just think of what she could do
for you.
the church of scientology, lucy is an
agreeable person. however, i may have
to take issue with l. ron on this one.
because, you see, i have seen miss
jones in the face of dissent, when the
sacredness of tiki bars is in question.
and i can assure you (l. ron too, may
he rest in level nineteen z orange),
she is anything but agreeable.
nonetheless, lucy is a wonderful woman.
and i hear she likes to party. party
down, lucy. party till the breaka
breaka dawn.
