About Me:
Unspoken
by John Eleazer J. Martin
"Practice makes perfect”, why do people habitually utter these words as catalyst for motivation? Preponderance of the student’s population finds it harsh to deal with numbers. It’s irrefutable that at times, numbers cram in our heads. Many take math as an obstacle; hence, they constantly try to surpass it. For a typical mathematical genius, maybe numbers is just a piece of cake and I’m sure that nobody would trade this over a pile of eggs on exams.
Being a cream of the crop in our respective schools, deteriorating sky-high expectations accompanied by teeming rules and regulations incarcerate our liberty. As an SEF Scholar, these chains are tied up tighter for all and sundry set their eyes demanding us be someone unattainable, leaving them most of the time unsatisfied. As an example, Mr. Laganao consistently says every teaching hour of his that it is most likely expected for us to easily cope up with this lesson; that we should practice how to derive a formula; and it’s unnecessary for us to forget the Distance Formula or how to prove that x2/a2 + y2/b2= 1.
It is somewhat strenuous to live with ubiquitous pressures, but no one’s to blame. We always have in mind what Mr. Cartel said, “You are scholars, it is good to have it affixed to your names but commitment must come along”. As our journey continues in the next chapter of learning, we set ourselves up to what life could be outside the boundary. But before it ends, there is something I long them to realize; one thing that I want to say but I can’t so as to hope they will understand: “Nobody is perfect.”
