The Used formed under the name Strange Itch in 1994, the band consisted of Jeph Howard , Bert McCracken, Quinn Allman, and Matt Brown. The band put out one self titled album in 1998 and lasted until Quinn Allman took over the guitar in 1999 and at this point Strange Itch changed its name to Dumb Luck [1]. In 2000, an EP called The Naked Truth was released. Not long after the release, there was another line up change as Howard moved to bass and Bert McCracken took over the vocals. Dumb Luck was short-lived and the band changed its name to Used when Bert came into the line up. [2] At that point in time, Drummer Steineckert sent their songs to producer John Feldman from the punk group Goldfinger. After he heard "A Box Full of Sharp Objects" he called them in for a demo. In 2001, the band finished the demo and he got them signed to Reprise Records all within a few months of meeting them. In 2002, the band underwent another name change, as it was discovered a Boston band had already trademarked the name "Used" years earlier. It was then changed to The Used, since then The Used have released three studio albums: The Used (Platinum), In Love and Death (Platinum), and Lies for the Liars (241,000+).
