snobby guys who acts too good to talk
to the little ol' record store clerk.
He knows his stuff and shares it with
others. Thanks for the hot tips- they
go very appreciated!
Please call back. It's like Gilligan's island
here in Redding, only no Ginger or Gilligan.
Your mom is looking for you. She needs you
to call her.
make friends with someone online. We
'met' at the Trail of the Dead Yahoo
group and when Conrad's band came to LA
to play the Silverlake Lounge I called
up TOD and nagged them about dropping
by for the show, only too eager to show
off my badass networking skills. I
worked long and hard on a special tape
I was making of music he'd never heard
before -- no easy task! -- and right
before I left for the show I realized
I'd accidentally erased part of it and
smashed a hole in my bathroom wall
which is still there as a special
souvenir of that magical eve. Conrad
insisted he wouldn't be nervous with
one of his favorite bands on hand but,
as the show went on, certain members of
that band were walking over to
mysteriously point to him and, later,
Conrad confessed that, yeah, he'd been
just a little bit nervous. But that's
okay. He bought me a beer right away,
knowing I was broke and we'd only met
for real for the first time, and as any
barfly can tell you, that's a sign of
real character. If he didn't live in
Chico, or if I did, I'm sure I'd
perpetually play Kramer to his Jerry,
but, as it is, I can hardly even get
him on the phone since he's always
warding off telemarketers. But let it
be known you're a good man, Conrad,
even if you do like Acid Mothers
Temple.
was invented with conrad in mind.
Have you seen this bastard on the
court? One second he's just
standing there. You know the
stance- the one he always uses
when he plays bass. The next
second, he's charging hard, and
jamming that ball down your throat.
He also does that tongue-stick-out
thing ala MJ. It looks cool.
Conrad is the only person besides
me that still believes in making mix
tapes. One day, I'm going to go to
his house and watch movies. I hope
soon!!!
friendliest people I've ever met.
He's encouraging, optimistic and has a
great way of validating others
thoughts and ideas. He's intimidating
in the nicest possible way by his
unlimited knowledge of music and
film....he's also one of the few
musicians I know over the age of 30
who is not jaded. Besides that any
fan of Silkworm and/or friend of
Brad's has my vote! He is truly
inspiring.
well, but if you live in Chico long
enough, things take on more
significance. Conrad's band "Disaster
Scrapbook" was the first Chico band to
play at a Halloween party I organized
years ago. It was great party, even
though my girlfriend slapped me that
night while putting on my Nosferatu
make-up. Anyway, Conrad is always
personable, positive, and easy to have
a conversation with. And he'll always
let you post your show fliers whereever
he works. VIA, CONRAD!!! -dwh

mentioned Roger Corman and his eyes
widened. He really seems to know
life's secrets (and they probably have
something to do with Roger Corman).
in class and write on the walls because I like
the Liars and so does Conrad. It's pretty fun
now.
Conrad is tha man! Intorduced to me by
the famed Joel Valder, he thumbed a
funky fresh lick for the grooviest band
this side of the Feather River! Ask him
to play you his version of "Higher
Ground" in which he makes Flea look
like a trichodina.
Wait, make that a Vertels/Downsiders
world tour. Yeah, thats it!
