Paul is the only gringo that I know that can say
that in spanish without screwing up, well...
he does get through it.
MI CARNAL (which means My blood), even
though I never write he knows I still love him
Diego
intrinsic part of all existence. Maybe not
moreso than any other element of it, but
he is aware of his elemental status and
of the danger of taking himself or
anyone else too seriously. This, and his
blue eyes and his complimentary nature
and his love of cows, good food, good
music and odd people is why I love him.
He loves his friends, he loves life, and
he's an adaptable person and a
survivor. This is why I respect him. He is
charming and beautiful, original and just
complex enough to be truly intriguing
(without being so complex as to be a
pain in the ass), he is an adventurer and
a poet and a dreamer and this is why I
admire him. He is far away and he gets
my jokes and he makes me think twice
and drink scotch and he has a lovely
wife and likes good movies and can
follow my bizarre trains of thoughts and
moods and he makes me smile and feel
special and capable and this is why I
miss him. AND he gets why I had to use

He is that rare inner circle of life
long friends more indelible on the
soul than ones own family. He is
truely a brother, and I am a better
and richer person in his company and
because of him. I am awed by his
intellect, lost & found in his
connections to everything, and by the
even-handed social ease with which he
aspires and plays the game. I wished I
had the pleasure of his company more
often.
