      • We had a long standing debate last year in noho about the yankee doodle macaroni dilemma--so i can actually answer your question! Macaroni actually refers to a popular italian style of clothes back then which was very fancy, dandy and rich looking. so the song is actually making fun of the yankee colonists by saying they're such country bumpkins that they think just sticking a feather in a hat makes them 'Macaroni.' (the song was originally sung by the british to made fun of the americans, but we took it on as our rallying anthem). (ok, now i feel like i've exposed my purely geeky side for all to see, haha!) anyways, it was great hanging out last night! we should really see eachother more than once every two months now that we live in the same area :)
