exterior you may often see. P would
kick your ass on Jeopardy anyday..
come to think of it he'd probably kick
your ass at most other things as well.
If only I got to see P more often, it's
fun to let him try on my jackets.

      • The word was born in the blood
Grew in the dark body, beating
And took flight through the lips and
        the mouth.
It is language that, while allowing
        desire to come into being,
        Ties knots therein,
And makes us such that we can both want
and not want one and the same thing,
Never be satisfied when we get what we
        thought we wanted,
        and so on.
        And light:
It floated all by itself, it stirs and
brushes by me, melts and vanishes.
        Gently, gently.
My plight drove me to the typewriter.
And that typewriter has driven me to
        this question of Patrick Kwon.
        A quandary. A linguistic labyrinth.
        Language-twisting-twisting*.

*The Yaminahua people of Quirishary (a
community in the Pinchis Valley of the
Peruvian Amazon) practice a form of
        shamanism that involves drinking
        ayahuasca ("Amazonian shaman have been
        preparing ayahuasca for millennia. The
brew is a necessary combination of two
plants, which must be boiled together
for hours. The first contains a
        hallucinogenic substance,
        dimethyltryptamine, which also seems to
be secreted by the human brain; but
this hallucinogen has no effect when
        swallowed, because a stomach enzyme
called monoamine blocks it. The second
        plant however, contains several
        substances that inactivate this precise
        enzyme, allowing the hallucinogen to
reach the brain-Ph.D. Jeremy Narby) in
order to induce a hallucinatory state
in which they claim to gain access to
        spiritual and physical knowledge
regarding the plants and animals of the
        forest. During these dreamlike
        experiences, the Yaminahua shamans, or
        ayahuasqueros as the call themselves,
communicate with the spirits of nature
        through songs called koshuiti. The
koshuiti is sung in an occult language
        that is incomprehensible to those
Yaminahua who are untrained in the ways
of the ayahuasqueros. In these songs,
nothing is referred to by its normal
name. Only the vaguest of metaphors and
        obscure circumlocutions are employed.
This coded language is referred to by
        the ayahuasqueros as tsai yoshtoyoshto,
        which translates as, language-twisting-
        twisting.

" With my koshuiti I want to see -
singing, I carefully examine things -
twisted language brings me close but
not too close - with normal words I
would crash into things - with twisted
ones I circle around them - I can see
        them clearly.
        - unidentified shaman
