About Me:
NOTE FOR CURRENT MACALESTER STUDENTS: After some
thoughtand after, at first, inclining otherwiseI've decided that I
should not accept Friendster links from current Macalester
students. Even if I accepted all links from students who proffered
them, those links might look awkward to others exploring the
Friendster world, especially to students or prospective students
who liked me but felt awkward offering links themselves, or to
students who weren't quite sure what the links meant. I gladly
accept Friendster links to recent Mac alums; I also welcome links
to abstract, nonhuman or fictional Friendster entities which
students might create or maintain (for example, "WMCN,
"Chanter, "John Milton or "Kitty Pryde). If you link to these, and I
link to these, I'll be one link away from you. But I will, reluctantly,
reject Friendster links sent directly from current Mac students'
Friendster accounts; that doesn't mean I don't want to be your
friend.

brilliant but achingly humble, and
sensitive in the best sense of the
word. He values people: "You have got
to meet..." crops up in every single
conversation we have. He values words:
he mailed me several boxes of New
Yorker magazines, poetry, novels, and
even a copy of the Paris Review while I
was starving for English print in Peace
Corps. Plus he loves Jessie "more than
anyone ever loved anybody," as Douglas
put it. And Hello Kitty. What more
could anyone ask for in a friend?
so profoundly confused by basting a
seam. Still, if your in a jam, involving
something other than sewing, he'll
talk you out of that jam and convince
you to volunteer for the DFL all before
the first round and fried calamari is
finished. He's taught me a lot about
puns and politics and poetry, all with
a good natured smile.
