History

CARPE DIEM was formed in Novaliches, Quezon City on April, 2007. Founding members are vocalist Jay and guitarist Glenn, who have known each other and has shared the love of music since their high school days. Pot and Chris, both friends of Jay and Glenn joined shortly to fill the position of bassist and drummer, respectively. To add a touch of acid jazz, Joy Carino joined the group as saxophonist.

Name

The name Carpe Diem was derived on a Latin phrase, which when translated literally means “to seize the day” or “make the most of the day”, as it was the group’s principle, young as though the band is, to make the most out of themselves and their music, and to reach out to a huge audience of people.

Music and Influence

Carpe Diem’s music is a fusion of funk, reggae, and grunge. The songs that they have written speak mainly about people and society in their perspective. The band’s influence draws from some of the brightest musical artists that the music world has known: The Beatles, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, P.O.T., Nirvana, Bob Marley, Incubus, 311, and Mr. Big, to name a few.
