When we drove the wrong way down a one-way street in her red LeBaron convertible I knew she would be my friend. When we smuggled food out of the China Buffet, I knew she would be my friend forever. She is the equivalent to a human life preserver. She can rescue you from any situation. She can rescue you from yourself. If you were stranded on a desert island youd want her to be there, for she can outsmart her way out of any circumstance. She can sell anything, cook anything, and would do anything for her friends. She is one of the few people I would drive to the burbs to see (I get lost every time!) and who Id admit my truly embarrassing life mishaps. I jump up and down every time I get to see her because she knows me so well and spoils me with her love of great food and liquor, her cynicism, her appreciation of tawdry gossip and bad movies and most of all, for the place of comfort and support that she always gives me.
What can I say? Best friends for almost six years and we hit it off from day one. Sassy, stylish and equally as acid tongued as I am =). Chicago just isn't the same without Liz, and if I know the two of us, won't be the same afterward. Liz exemplifies everything that a best friend should. Get yourself back here kid - Portillo's and the Godfather await.
Beth Peters is the most generous, genuine, giving person I know. After we graduated high school, she moved me into college because my parents were in India looking for a kidney donor for my dad. Did I mention that she actually offered her own kidney to my dad? This lady is the queen of logistics. She snuck me out of my overprotective parents house in high school to make sure I wouldn't miss out on prom or homecoming --- or even my own birthday (when she organized that surprise party). She is TRULY a friend - she wears her love and concern about others on her sleeve, and is proactive about showing she cares. A class act.
