      • I went to the Big Fresno Fair without Monique, but what's the use in that? Some where there is a photo of us in a booth at that fair. I am wearing a large pink scarf. We kind of look the same, other than that. I believe the tacos are less greasy.

      • Mo has a je ne sais qua about her that
is truly spectacular. Her wit is quick
and rapier sharp, yet not pointy. Her
love of Morissey is undying and her
talent is vast and deep. MMM...Mo.

      • Monique is an amazing writer who is not
afraid to use (coin?) terms such
        as "mancookie" and "jibblies." And
though I have only met her a handful of
times, I must say she is as
entertaining in person as she is in
        writing.

      • i don't really know mo that well, but i
know people who adore her, and i hear
        she's an absolutely fabulous writer.
when i'm in austin, i usually see her
as she's walking down the drag from a
car window, and i frantically wave, but
she rarely notices. one time, just
after i met her, she saw me waving from
the driver's side. that was pretty cool.

      • Mo is mo bettah! (You like that? I just made it
up.) She shares my deep appreciation of the
rock that is indie, especially all things Jenny
Toomey. She's great fun to see a show with,
        especially when she starts inventing
        spontaneous review metaphors during the
show. She let me take pictures of her, and
paid me the amazing compliment of liking
        them. She's a wit, a gifted improviser, and a
very fine friend. Now that I'm back in Austin, I
can enjoy all the good things in life: breakfast
tacos, dive-bar blues, and the society of the
coolest, sassiest librarian I know. To anyone
who knows her, Austin is the *real* Mo-town.

      • Dude, whoever doesn't understand
that wonder that is Monique is not the
        polar opposite of bowl-on-head, but
        is bowl-on-head. No, make that
POOP in bowl-on-head, or PONOS in
        bowl-on-head. This kool kat graced
us with her presence at Wesleyan for
        one measley semester, but since
she is so dreamy, so fantastic, so
soooper to be around, we have kept
in touch, and it hasn't been much
effort at all. I visited Monique in
Austin and slid down her co-op stairs
on a mattress. She came to my
abode in Providence and we played
mancala and drank tea on the porch
        of my lovely Victorian apartment.
Monique is the coolest. And, good
        news, perhaps when she goes
home to the big SD, she can visit moi
in the big LA. I miss Monique!
