Heh.
Caitlin taken at the "Hairstyle
Illusions" photo booth at Coney
Island. There's Goldilocks Caitlin,
Beehive Caitlin, 18-Century Caitlin,
Soccer Mom Caitlin. It's such a great
example not just of her wonderful
sense of humor but also her great
intuition. Coney Island is vast and
overwhelming, yet she led me past
all the flashing lights and disco
music to the very place that would
give me the most delight.
That's how it is hanging out with
Caitlin. Whether scouring a stoop
sale for fabulous $1 dresses or
talking film and philosophy in a dive
bar, you tend to feel nostalgic for the
moment as it's happeningthe
times you know you'll look back on
and say, Ah yes, that's what it was
like to be young and in New York.
She takes such delight in everything
from obscure French films to
Nathan's hot dogs that it's infectious.
She's also a deep thinker, clear-eyed
and unpretentious, always able to
bring her wit and insight to w
rubber chicken hung from her door, limp
and yellow, and somehow I knew I had to
know her. Back then we were like an
imaginary awkward-girl comedy team,
baggy clothes and new wave hair,
laughing at the absurdity of everything
around us. Now we are ladies, and
Caitlin is a full-blown goddess and
still hilarious. I adore her--her
verbal finesse, her compassion, her
hard-earned wisdom, and her sense of
wonder. She's also a great friend to
get a flat tire with in a foreign
country.
of the best things about Caitlin is
that although I just said something
that would offend 99% of the people
around, she knows that I merely said
that for a laugh. And that deep down I
wanted to write something nice about
her since she really *is* that nice and
sweet. It is rare that your dreamy
junior year of college crush turns into
a very good friend -- but that's what
happened here. She's full of talent,
generally in a good mood, funny and
cute to boot. I am pretty lucky that
she has a good sense of humor and keeps
me around for laughs. Dude, you're
always welcome back in North Kakalaka.
And I forgive you for dating the frat
boy. (who knew??)
short film about a love for a suitcase that is so
tragic it made me cry? caitlin can; this woman
is extraordinary.
