asked me to prom. It wasn't like that,
there was no hand holding or dancing,
just friends, you know? A bunch of us
went in a big group. After that we all
went to someone's parent's in Santa
Cruz. He played a polka on the piano
ALL NIGHT. It's still stuck in my head.
aphex twin, the Mohegan Sun casino,
mud season, manic panic, Cormac
McCarthy, long walks esp. through
cemeteries, Roxanne, apizza, his
ridiculous terminal optimism,
wooden postcards from cross
country, the New Pornographers,
Rick Moody, his love of bizarre
meats, the Talking Heads, the
problems of lifestyle in the western
part of the U.S., brussel sprouts
slathered in butter. Geoff is epic in
every sense of the word and I credit
(blame?) him with shaping my
cultural sensibilities probably more
than I should readily admit, so feel
free to accuse him if you decide I've
got a few roos loose in the top
paddock.
