good peaches outside of the South. Peter
is the exception to that rule.
peter's computer but that all changed
tonight. i swear, i thought he'd
appreciate an abstract sugar-induced
depiction of the painted desert across
his screen but his admiration of my work
seems tinged with - what's the word -
fury? hatred? the desire to end our
friendship? who knew that any song's
lyrics could be instantaneously
rewritten to speak one girl's lack of
motor skills? he just told me he's a
sucker for my unlucky pretty eyes which
is way more than i deserve at this
point. forgive me, sweet peter. i know
not how to reach across expensive
electronics to switch the song on my
ipod without causing intense resentment.
he drank and played Pacman one-
handed. Then he moved. Then he came
back. Now he's missing. Maybe it's cos
I never call back? Hmmm....
with myself if I didn't turn you in for
that outstanding warrant. I'm an
upstanding citizen and, honestly, I
think it did you a lot of good to get
cuffed and sit in the police station for
a few hours. It's because I care.
Really. I love you too much to watch
your life go down the drain. Maybe now
you'll get back on track and move to
Chicago. It's the only thing that will
save you.
other testimonial ive ever gotten. I ask, who else
could do that?! thats right-noone.
apartment is the best i've ever had. and
i've never said that to anyone before.
listening to dick buckley on npr - you
know, the best jazz ever recorded, "the
good old good ones" - and it's great and
all, but i find myself turning it off so
i can listen to peter sing "i've got the
blues." over and over again. it's like
he laced the recording with opium or
something ...
he wasn't here to drink it.
