D CUZINS

In the early year 2002 marked the birth of the group’s singing career. Known as an A Capella ensemble, the group’s function has musically evolved and expanded. Initially performing as wedding singers, they were eventually invited to perform in various singing engagements in institutions, corporate functions and other special invitations. They perform in the field of music both Christian and secular provided that they preserve good morale and bring the name of Christ through action, testimony and through music.
The group consists of talented and vibrant individuals with different professions and are related by blood: Nemuel Danuco, Reuben Jasper Aloyon, Melody Gonzaga and Millany Gonzaga thus named themselves D’ CUZINS. But in 2004, the group felt the need to hire another music enthusiast, Cherrie Antonio, as part of Davao City’s well-known a capella group.
The group’s inherent love for singing led them to be part of several major concerts together with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) and the World-Renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers. In August of 2003, the group has joined in several workshops conducted by the Philippine Madrigal Singers held in Davao City thus, enhancing the group’s singing ability. They have participated in song writing competitions both national and local scene. Their song “Mahal na Mahal Kita” and “You are mine” composed and arranged by the group’s director, Mr. Nemuel Danuco; a graduate of Bachelor in Music at the University of Immaculate Concepcion and a music teacher, interpreted by D’ Cuzins, won in the ABS-CBN’s Himig Handog Mindanao Screening on September of 2003. They have also received numerous appreciations, admirations and words of encouragement from listeners and vocal experts. They fervently believe that without God’s help and support from family and friends, none of this success would have come to pass.
Through the years, the group has continually strived to produce good music to its optimum. Inspired by international and local acclaim A capella groups like Swingle Singers, Real Singers and The CompanY, they never stopped looking up to them musically while maintaining a sense of originality. With hard work and diligence, they consistently held rehearsals every week so as to improve and enhance the group’s musicality. Their solidity of friendship, harmony in singing and fervent support towards each other continues to venture down the path of its singing career both sacred and secular music all for the glory of God!
