Gackt Camui was born in Okinawa, Japan, on a July 4 (precise year not publicly known), as the second of three children (he has an older sister and a younger brother). His father was a music teacher who primarily played the trumpet. According to his autobiography, he was a mischievous child and enjoyed taking risks; at age seven he nearly drowned while swimming off the coast of Okinawa. After this near-death experience, he claimed to have the ability to see and speak with deceased family members, a notion which was dismissed by his parents. At the age of ten, Gackt was hospitalized with a gastrointestinal condition and had to remain at the hospital for a prolonged time. He made the acquaintance of several terminally ill children, some of whom died during his stay.

Gackt's musical education began at age three, when his parents initiated his classical piano education, of which he grew tired four years later. It would take another four years until his parents allowed him to quit. Competition with a friend lead Gackt to learn other instruments, with a focus on contemporary rock. He later resumed playing the piano.

Although we informed you that Virtual vocalist software "がくっぽいど / GACKPOID" that sings specified melody and lyrics in Gackt's voice would be on sale in mid-June by INTERNET Co., Ltd. , the release was postponed for making a choice and a change in product package illustration.
At the same time, we also go forward with the tune-up for the pronunciation and the way of singing.

Virtual vocalist "がくっぽいど" (GACKPOID) will be released！

Virtual vocalist software "がくっぽいど" (GACKPOID) singing the melodies and the lyrics which you select in Gackt's voice will be on sale in the middle of June by INTERNET Co.,Ltd. Gackt version will come out following a big hit of "Hatsune Miku" which utilizes the singing voice composition technology "VOCALOID2" of Yamaha. The details such as a price and a sale date will be announced later.

It was decided that Gackt plays in a Hollywood movie as an actor！ Snoot Entertainment company and Picturesque company started shooting a latest movie "BUNRAKU" staring Josh Hartnett（leading actor in "Pearl Harbor" (2001), the photograph left) and Demi Moore(leading actress in "ghost" (1990)). The some concerned with Hollywood film pay attention to Gackt who played the role of Kenshin Uesugi on the NHK TV saga "FU-RIN-KA-ZAN" last year. Guy Moshe who works for this scenario and the supervision of this work longed for Gackt as a partner of Josh Hartnett, the main charactor. The film director came to Japan himself and persuaded Gackt zealously to play in the film. His great zeal for Gackt touched his heart and made him decided to welcome the offer！


I'm honored that my expression of the new Kenshin Uesugi image I played in a TV saga "FU-RIN-KA-ZAN" last year was addmited in the world. In the setting of the huge world in the near future, I was very interested in the role that could express Bushido spirit as a partner of Josh Hartnett, leading actor.
More than eles, a film director himself came over to Japan and showed his great zeal for my appearence in the film. His such sincere attitude impressed me a lot and I felt that they are much in need of me in the film. So, I gave my willing consent to his offer.
I want to prove my performance and expression will be accepted in the world among the big actors representing Hollywood. Please expect me and look forward to it. I'll go to accomplish a dream again.
