TROY BOLTONS
When Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) takes a trip to Colorado in his junior year of high school, he never expected to meet the girl of his dreams, Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens). When he doesn't get a call after meeting her, he assumes she didn't want to be with him, and returns to his daily life as an East High Wildcat in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

The day after winter break, he is sitting in home room, listening to their drama teacher rant, when he notices that Gabriella has not only moved to Albuquerque, but now attends East High! The relationship blossoms, and soon they audition for the spring musical, Twinkle Town. After a long race, they finally win the part over twin pre- Madonnas, Sharpay and Ryan Evans.

The next summer (HSM 2), Gabriella and Troy secure a job at a local country club, owned by Sharpay and Ryan's parents! When Troy and Gabriella find that working life separates them, they hit a rough patch, partly caused by Sharpay's growing flirtiness around Troy. When they break-up, Sharpay is soon to snatch up Troy as her partner for the talent show. After realizing they are meant for each other, the staff of high school teens organize for Gabriella and Troy to sing together, but without Sharpay knowing! Their plan succeeds, and Gabriella and Troy are united once more for their senior year.

In their senior year as East High Wildcats (HSM 3), they have trouble accepting that they are going to split up for the years of college ahead with Troy staying in New Mexico, and Gabriella traveling away 1,053 miles to Stanford. With the help of their friends, and their drama teacher, Mrs. Darbus, they organize a spring musical to reflect their problems, growing pains, and emotions. When Troy and Gabriella split before Gabriella's early freshman orientation, things get rough before they get better. In the end, Troy chooses to go to Berkley, only 36 miles away from Gabriella!

GABRIELLA MONTEZ
Gabriella Montez is East High`s leading lady. Being the girlfriend of the captain of the basketball team can be tricky, with all the other girls wanting him and his team members pressuring him, but in the end it is worth it. She is also a member of the winning scholastic decathlon along with one of her best friends, Taylor. She is also known for her amazing talent- singing. She was even part of the winter musical called "Twinkle Towne". During the summer she is a lifeguard at the "Lava Springs" country club. She often questions her love for Troy because of the school`s over achiever, Sharpay. The future scares Gabriella, she doesn`t want to leave Troy. She is accepted to Stanford, and has an oportunity to go early, but she doesn`t want to leave East High. It is over 1,000 miles away from where Troy wants to go. She decidies to go, but with an ache in her heart. Troy suprises her with a vist and a waltz, sense they couldn`t make it to the prom. In the end, Troy chooses to go to Berkley which is only 37 miles away. Troy says she inspires him. We won`t know what happens next, that is something you`ll have to dream yourself. Let`s say they live happily ever after, we know they will. Wildcats are all in this together- once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat.

SHARPAY EVANS
Sharpay Evans is queen of East High's theatre department, having starred in a total of 17 school productions. She has never quite forgiven newcomer Gabriella Montez and basketball star Troy Bolton for taking the lead roles from her and her twin brother Ryan Evans in the winter musicale. Sharpay's attempt at revenge failed over the summer, as she was taught a valuable lesson in friendship.
In her senior year, she recruited a sophomore named Tiara Gold to be her personal assistant. Tiara later ends up betraying Sharpay, announcing that she will be taking over the drama department the following year. Sharpay won't stand to be humiliated and gives Tiara her comeuppance by crashing her performance in the musical.
After graduation, Sharpay goes to college while maintaining her spot as the president of drama club at East High.
Sharpay is very controlling. She dominates her brother and her peers. She is also very spoiled, demanding she have only the best things in life.
He favourite colour is pink. She owns a pink convertable, pink golf cart and pink golf balls.
She really fancies Troy Bolton. Zeke Baylor has a huge crush on her yet she doesn't really notice it.
Her parents own the Lava Springs Country Club. Her father is in the board of the University of Albuquerque.
She is secretly good at golf.
Goes to East High. Head of the East High Drama Department.

RYAN EVANS
Ryan Evans is the male half of the "legendary" Evans twins. He and sister Sharpay have starred in every East High production and are in no mood to have their streak broken by basketball star Troy Bolton and brainy new student Gabriella Montez. Unwilling to settle for working hard and letting the best duo win, Ryan joins his sister in attempting to sabotage Troy and Gabriella's call
