About Me:
Since 1801 when it was first established, Clarke County
has served as the educational, cultural and commercial
center of Northeast Georgia. Two hundred years represents
a magnitude of changes and a lot of living.
The Athens-Clarke County Bicentennial Celebration
committee and Athens Newspapers, through a series of four
special sections, each covering roughly 50-year periods,
will try to bring readers some perspective and glimpses of
what life was like in Clarke County during the past two
centuries.
