fascinating in the way that she both
inspires and writes poetry.

the Great Upheaval of 2002, when Ariel
and Isabel, the punk and the poet,
joined forces to tear things up a
little bit. We stormed the rec center
and made it a center for sauna-ing and
lounging (after an ill-fated attempt to
master the elliptical machine), we
invaded 412 and felt the pain of war
and whiskey, we passed off 3 dollar
American-made 'Odessa' Vodka as
imported Ukrainian holy water, we
made 'decadence' the only thing worth
living for. That time has past and the
emotional scars that propelled us so
far are fading and we've discovered new
sources of energy and excitement, but
Isabel remains one of the best friends
I've ever made. She, among very few
left in the world, understand beauty,
loyalty, and compassion quite like she
does. Isabel is a true friend for
life. And I will swordfight anyone who
dare question her honor. Oh. I forgot
to mention her ghetto booty........
is the only constant that i have. we go to
shitty meathead bars and complain for a few
hours and then go our separate ways. she
could do so much better.
decadence in my life: the smoking, the
poetry reading during the early hours
of the morning, the French movies,
the "poetry and death playlists, and
the grand theft auto felonies just to
drink tea and make unwise long distance
phone calls, etc. Who knew, from our
first meeting, drinking wine at a
friend's and talking about boys in
bands, that she would become one of my
very best friends?
