In a fantasy world where you could simultaneously record the firing rates of every neuron for a block of time t to t+n, then re-stimulate those same neurons (holding the synaptic weights constant following n) with the rates and precise spike times obtained from the recordings, you could relive the moment n over and over to infinity. That is the dream. Absolutely fixed sensory inputs; how much randomness will there still be in our behavior?
