Allen Walker is a young Exorcist who has a cursed eye that can see the suffering of the Akumas created by The Millenium Earl. He travels to England to the Headquarters of the Exorcists where his Master has sent him to meet with the other Exorcists. The battle with the Millenium Earl and the Noah Family vs. the Exorcists intensifies when some of the best Exorcists begin to get killed by hoards of Akuma. Japan takes center stage in this end of 19th Century plot in order to not let the entire human race be turned into Akumas and the Exorcists have the power of "Innocence" that was given to them by God on their side.

AKUMA, killing machines which use souls as energy. The Earl of Millenium, creator of AKUMA, planning his own 'scenario' that will lead to the end of humanity. EXORCIST, people chosen by god to syncronise with innocence and obtain supernatural powers in the shape of Anti-AKUMA weapons. Whose duty is to destroy AKUMA, save their souls, and defy the Earl of Millenium in the name of mankind. Allen Walker is an exorcist, his left arm is an Anti-AKUMA weapon, his left eye holds a curse which enables him to see the tortured soul of AKUMA. To uphold his promise to his late father to "never stop moving forward" he joins the Black Order of exorcists. With his fellow exorcists, Allen strives to save AKUMA and human alike, and to stop the Earl's 'scenario' from ever coming true.
Akuma, monsters born from dead souls mistakenly recalled by their loved ones to the living world, are the weapons of the Millenium Earl, who is intent on the destruction of the world. Allen Walker has been cursed with an anti-Akuma weapon as his left arm and an eye that sees the former soul of the Akuma since his youth. He is also one of the few who contain "Innocence", a substance that allows him to kill Akuma and fight the Earl. With these powers, he joins the Black Priest Organization as an Exorcist and sets out with other Exorcists to stop the Earl's attempts to annihilate the human race.
