Just... was formed in May 2007 over 3 steaming cups of coffee in a Dago living room. United by a common love of Britpop and alternative music, RC, Firman and Alison wanted to bring something new to the Indonesian music scene. Combining bitter lyrics, soulful guitar and an optimistic bass, Just... takes their inspiration from The Killers, Radiohead, Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Coldplay and more. Just...’s music and lyrics come straight from the lives, hearts and experiences of the band’s personnel, who share an amazing synergy of emotion.
The name Just... came about during the writing of the band’s first song; “Selective Hearing”. Previously the band had been known as Mystified. Earlier the same evening, the boys had agreed to change the name to Fidelity in response to Alison being extremely pissed off with her totally playboy (now ex-) TTM.. The name Fidelity lasted less than an hour, before RC added a “just” to the “Selective Hearing” lyrics. Alison commented that RC had added a “just” to all her lyrics, and a unanimous decision was taken to make it the name of the band. As well as “hanya”, the word “just” is also the adjective from “justice”, or “keadilan”. So which meaning do the band use? Well actually, we just like the word! What about the “...” ? That’s coz it’s never “just” anything.. It’s always “just...” something!!! And anyone who wants to call us “just band” (which is so NOT our name) should be warned that vocalist Alison is an experienced kick-boxer with a fiery temper..
