William Keck
'Uncle Rick, you're so tall and thin! I love it!' -- said to me by my 9-year old nephew while he was watching The Devil Wears Prada. By himself. For the sixth time in a row. 01/06/2008

What I enjoy doing:
Writing, reading, tennis, I-5 roadtrips, popular science, talking about how to make bad things better, cheap good restaurants that deliver, not smoking, rhubarb pie, and apparently being an abomination to many
-
Favorite Books:
Wake up, Sir!, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (I have a soft spot for autism), Animals in Translation (Okay, a really big soft spot for autism), Middlesex, The Ancestor's Tale, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, Dry, White Teeth, Dawn, Between the Acts, Steel Beach, The Elegant Universe, and of course all the English major biggies
-
Favorite Movies:
ANOTHER GAY MOVIE! Go see it immediately! The Incredibles ("Hi? This is Kari? Sorry for freaking out earlier . . .") Donnie Darko, Something's Gotta Give (I could watch the crying montage all day every day), Monster, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Terms of Endearment, Night of the Comet, Clue, 9 to 5, Big Business, The Incredible Shrinking Woman (what would you do without Galaxy Glue?), and where would we be without Brokeback?

About Me:
"You people have had hours and hours to prepare . . . it's just so confusing to me."
-
Who I Want to Meet:
Someone with sleepy eyes. Someone aware. Someone who is as interesting when he stays in as when he goes out. Someone who does something well and loves it. Someone who can make something with me. Someone who thinks that true things are crazy funny. Someone who knows the difference between talent and ambition. Someone who thinks that who you hang out with is as much fun as wherever you end up hanging out. Unless it's someplace really fucking amazing. Someone a little crazed. Someone a little bent. Someone heartbreakingly, breathtakingly, disarmingly . . . something.
And Brad Bird, more than ever.

Yes, he has a bit of a wicked streak. But
there's no doubt, at least in my mind, that
William is a good person, who, given the right
occasion, might do bad things. (Ask him what
he did to Sarah. mmhmm.) Those instances
are far outweighed by all his unbelievably
positive qualities. The way he gets all excited
about a grammatical challenge (whoever?
whomever?). How he giggles while referring
to himself as "The Abominable GayMan". His
hugs. The voice (holy crap, the voice). The
way he CANNOT take a picture without
making that face (you know the one). There
are so many fantastic things about William,
but I really have to get back to work now, and
anyway, you're the writer here, Patch, not me.
I. Not I.
But I repeat. You cannot help but love this
boy. Unless, of course, you're Sarah
Harnisch.
Do you see?
him at dominoes once. It wasn't pretty but he took
it like a man. Now that I think about it though,
we've never played since...
My time with Rick is spent mostly talking or
listening. And of course smoking... This is not so
good. There is also a fair amount of time spent
curled up with pizza watching Buffy - then no one
talks.
Rick often looks so earnest. The expression on
his face as he dashes across the street almost but
never quite late for a movie or scanning the crowd
waiting for me at a reading is one of gravity and
intention. This makes him seem all the lovelier
when he smiles...
the past year. I can think of no one I would rather
do something with or just do nothing at all. Rick
has a very big heart and is not afraid to share it
with you. He is also very smart, funny, and pretty
easy on the eyes. But more importantly he can
see into your soul and manages to make you
express things to him you probably have never
told anyone else in your life. Rick is always open
to communication, even if we had a disagreement
he would rather discuss, disect, analyze it and
move on than let it staginate and hurt our
friendship. I respect that and him immensely. He
constantly challenges me to be a better person
and open myself up to the world around me. I
value and cherish him more than he will ever
know. Thank you Rick for being my friend- you
enhance my life with your prescence.
to expect the unexpected from him.
he has a way of getting to your most
hidden places, no matter how under
lock and key you
believe them to be. . . has somewhat of
a knack for it . . perhaps its a gift.
whatever it is, he makes me feel equally
crazy and calm all at the same time. . .
though i do tend to forget it from time to
time,
his presence in my life reminds me,
when i'm not overthinking everything,
that things do get better.
cornered animal. his competitiveness
makes me want to discover his weakness
and crush him. i WILL find it! until
then i will be content basking in the
warmth of his cozy company . . . i will
find it.
on Friendster. He's such a good guy,
and a good friend to boot! On many,
many occasions, we've laughed alot,
cried when we needed to, and drank more
than we should have...
Ah, the good times!!! I miss our daily
lunch date... but he knows that. Oh,
and he really is a HOTTIE! Yum, get a
better picture!!!
is william?) years ago in college. i
have to admit, we didn't immediately
hit it off. sure, we shared an
affinity for the same amazing man, but
he and i didn't quite click. then, a
few months ago, i had the pleasure of
being included on his "journey of love"
tour of the west coast. and can i tell
you, this rick/william guy is amazing!
he's super smart, really funny and
tells a story like no one i know. i
was almost in tears after he shared a
story about the huge heart he wears on
his sleeve (remember your snot story,
rick? loved that!) he's just a
sweetheart and i'm so glad i got a
second chance to get to know him. i am
happy and honored to call him my
friendster. and i have to add, his
photos don't really do him justice.
he's a cutie pie!
