      • Well, Chaz is my oldest and best friend.

So what is he like? Well, He's like an adult/male version of Lisa Simpson.

Very bright, politically lefty, very good heart, with jazz/buddist flavoring added on top.

Yes Lisa Simpson. Dude, you're totally going to delete this right?

      • charles padded into class one day, drinking "coffee" (of the irish sort) and curled up in my lap. he held me close, shivering, when loud distrubing sounds echoed through our shared ventilation system. he brought home a CAT when i needed one the most (even though i protested violently). and he still sends me eloquent postcards that make me grin.

i'm not the best at keeping touch, but for this man i'll always be available. he's the sort of guy you never abandon. i'm proud to be his angel.

      • Charles was my best friend in elementary school and played a huge impact on my early years. Judging from the other other testimonials, Charles is still the great guy I knew. Loyalty, intelligence, creativity, inquisitiveness, free spirit are words that come to my mind. I'm glad this friendster thing works.

      • There's no one I'd rather have at my back, and no single person I'd rather die in the service of. If you're reading this and you've never met Charles, ask yourself what kind of person could command such allegiance from otherwise rational, modern, anti-authoritarian individuals. You probably haven't begun to imagine, but it's a healthy exercise.

Illustrative point: When I first met Charles I knew that if he called me from a war zone and said that he just needed to talk, in person, right now, I'd be on the first plane. It took me awhile to figure out why. Eventually I discovered it was because, if I was fortunate enough to earn his friendship, he'd do the same for me.

        Incredible.

      • Though I know Charles primarily through
        reputation, the opinions are highly
        esteemed. He remains New College's
        iconic Humanities graduate.

      • I still remember the first time I across
        his name reading Scientific American.
Could this be the Charles I know?
Whenever I clip an interesting article
on science discoveries, I like to check
it for his name, and its not unusual to
        find it.

I guess that pleasant surprises must be
Charles' specialty because every once in
a while I get the coolest post cards
from him in some far-off corner of the
        world. A fearless adventurer, this guy;
one of the 6 friends I'm most likely to
name a videogame RPG character after
        (especially if that game features
        kung-fu masters, fencers, or knights).

      • So I'm at the airport, absolutely
deprived of sleep, and I pick up a
random magazine from the newsstand only
to have f-ing Charles f-ing Choi
        synchronisitically catapulted into my
        consciousness yet *again*. Which then
diverts my ruminations from - what was
it? - ancient Chinese jade carvings to a
        very contemporary Chinese-American guy
named Charles Choi. And I just wanted
to add that Charles has a HUGE,
        ENORMOUS, GIGANTOR, USDA CHOICE heart.
        Love, M.

      • I never did find a name for him I liked
        better than Charles, perhaps besides
friend. Trust me, I have had almost as
many names, they just don't stick so
well. He is a master of friendship, as
well as many other arts. And the best
name he could ever give me is the
same. Unlike most people, he has
buttons he likes having pressed. One
of the greatest possibilities in this
life is to become one of those
        buttons. Sincerety, Dreams, and Faith
are the three words I would associate
most with Charles. I hope he keeps
        them all close.
And if anyone thinks 1000 words, much
less 1000 characters is enough to
testify about Charles, they are sorely
        mistaken, so short and sweet.

      • Charles was the best roommate a guy could
ask for. A great person regardless of whether
or not you live with him. I miss the black
market trade of Wasabi peas for fruit Gushers.
Good too see you are doing well, Charles!
