      • As we begin the year 5765, I find
myself reminiscing about the year 5758,
during which Trina and I shared a small
room the majority of time. We both had
        visitors. I received a cold-nosed visitor
in a woolen hat much of the time. Trina,
on the other hand, unwittingly built up a
steady flow of suitors. Oh my, who
could be knocking at the door? Could it
be the older guy from her Beatles
class? Or the older guy named
Petaaar? Or the two older guys with
girlfriends who came upstairs from time
to time to salivate and perhaps invite
her to the dining hall? Or the dude from
down the hall who lent us Puff
Daddy's "I'm Comin' Up"? Or the lanky
poet? Or the actor? Or her swing
dancing partner? Lordy, lordy. This is
what happens when you go to Grinnell
College and you would also be
considered attractive (dare I say "hot")
in the outside world. Mayhem ensures
and your poor roommate is stuck
beating them off with a stick. (You all
        know what

      • Trina and I once shared a small bedroom
in Madison, WI. It was a relatively
        uneventful month... Trina occupied her
days theatre, while I whiled away the
        hours reading, drinking and earning
money by giving plasma at the
        neighborhood blood center.

But Trina was my hero for two reasons
        that summer:
        1. She was my watchout every morning
when we'd go downstairs to steal the
        neighbors' newspapers... yes!
        2. She called the local sperm bank on
my behalf to inquire about their
donation policy (alas, I was not
        qualified...)

And now Trina's my hero for traveling
all around the world for the past three
years and seemingly not having worked
more than ten hours in sum the whole
        time. Best life ever!
