poet. He reminds me of this character
I saw in a Japanese cartoon once. His
eyes aren't as big, though. One of
the funniest guys I ever met, and I
was lucky to sit near him a lot in
high school. I like to think that
some of his charm and wit slid off and
stuck to me (for he oozes with it,
from his pores, you see) but it's
doubtful.
fear. Bounds tall buildings in a single
leap. Equates effect with cause.
Prevaricates and circumnavigates. All
with a style that cries out for
euthanasia. How he does it, I'll never know.

the rest of his life, which will be
tragically shortened by drinking,
smoking, and self-abuse.
I'll try my best to catch up, 'drew!
shit talkin' and dish it straight
back. Which makes him one of my Top
Dawgs (no pun, really) :)
Funny how a quote can make you think
of somebody... and Bilbo's from
FOTR, "I don't know half of you half
as well as I should like, and I like
less than half of you half as well as
you deserve." has the TOP like flow.
Here's to seeing you out in Seatown,
cheers!
penchant for mis-remembered moments of
awkward pasts, but also manages to draw
the good things out of a backwash
bottle ashtray phase of life. Wish we
had had more time to find out just how
much we don't remember. You coming
down to Baltimore, or what?
ended when the notorious Top brothers,
Andrew and Daniel, after one of the
most extraordinary trials in British
legal history, were sentenced to 400
years imprisonment for crimes of
violence. We examined the rise to
power of the Tops, the methods they
used to subjugate rival gangs and
their subsequent tracking down and
capture by the brilliant
superintendent Harry 'Snapper' Organs
of Q Division.
Andrew and Daniel Top were born, on
probation, in a small house in Kipling
Road, Southwark, the eldest sons in a
family of sixteen. Their father Zafer
Top, a scrap metal dealer and TV
quizmaster, was well known to the
police, and a devout Catholic. In 1968
he had married Kitty Malone, an up-and-
coming East End boxer. Andrew was born
in February 1975 and Daniel two weeks
later; and again a week after that.
Someone who remembers them well was
their next door neighbour, Mrs April
Simnel.
"Oh yes Kipling Road was a typical
East End Street, people were in and
out of each other's houses with each
other's property all day. They were a
cheery lot. Cheerful and violent.
Doug was keen on boxing, but when he
learned to walk he took up putting the
boot in the groin. He was very
interested in that. His mother had a
terrible job getting him to come in
for tea. Putting his little boot in
he'd be, bless him. All the kids were
like that then, they didn't have their
heads stuffed with all this Cartesian
dualism."
he'd like you to believe he is. In
fact, he's mad-sexy, witty, and fun to
play with. He's the only person ever
to climb onto a roof for me, and for
that he will always have a special
place in my heart. (*sigh indeed*)
