About Me:
CARPOOL is really based on our clique, three guys and a gal who hang out together for more than 4 years now. 4 more guys are now added to the whole wacky bunch. Saturdays are our gimmick days. There was a time when we went swimming every Saturday. We also spent much time in road trips, although we only go around the Metro. CAR + POOL = CARPOOL!!!
History:
The first few sketches of Carpool were done in June 2002. The group had thought of making the comic strips for quite some time. The first few strips were inked in January 2003. Finally, the strips came out online a few months afterwards in my website. website
The first compilation came out as an independent comic and was sold for only 25Php. It was sold in small shops and available during selected conventions and campus tours. 3 compilations were made before it was published in The Manila Bulletin.
The first strip that came out in The Manila Bulletin was on February 14,2004.It started out as a filler but it later came out as a daily comic strip. Due to some circumstances, the strips will only be published once a week. Big thanks to Stanley Chi of the Comic Strip CHOPSTICKS, who referred me to The Manila Bulletin. Also, thank you to Mr. Roni Santiago, artist of numerous strips, such as Baltic & Co., for including my strip in the prestigious publication.
After a year of being published in the newspaper, I've decided to publish my own book. Carpool First Trip was released March of 2005. A fellow cartoonist and friend, Lyndon Gregorio of Beerkada, tagged me as the first Filipina cartoonist to ever publish a book. Just perfect for Women's month, which was March.
The second book, Carpool Second Wave, was released August of 2006.
Carpool is published weekly in The Manila Bulletin (Sundays). Carpool First Trip and Carpool Second Wave books are available in selected National Bookstores, Powerbooks, Comic Quest and Comic Odyssey stores.
