Yamato Akitsuki and Suzuka Asahina
of Suzuka
Yamato Akitsuki moves from his rural home in Hiroshima Prefecture to live at his aunt's apartment building and indoor bath complex in Tokyo and attend the local athletics-oriented high school. Before arriving at his new home, he walks past his new school and sees a young girl practicing high jump at the track field.

He falls in love with her at first sight but does not expect to see her again. He soon discovers that the girl, Suzuka Asahina, is one of the occupants of his aunt's apartment and that they happen to live next door to each other

Yuji Sakai and Shana
of Shakugan no Shana
Yuji is an ordinary high school student. One day he is attack by a mysterious monster but he was saved by the girl calls herself a "Flame Haze" who hunts the "Denizens of the Crimson Realm" and the "Rinne" they send to do their bidding. When Yuji notices a blue flame in his chest, the Flame Haze tells him that the "real" Yuji died some time ago, and that he is a "Torch", a temporary replacement for erased humans.

Aya Mikage and Toya
of Ayashi no Ceres
Aya is a high-school girl at the beginning of the story who discovers she is a descendant of a tennyo named "Ceres" and is Ceres' latest medium for existence. Toya is a mysterious young man who has absolutely no memory of his past or the nature of his being. He and Aya are drawn to one another, not only in love. At the end of the series, he tells Yūhi that he may not live for long and that Yūhi should take care of Aya once he dies.
