Composing a description of myself for Friendster poses a considerable dilemma on my part. How does one portray one’s self to a sea of complete strangers, without sounding arrogant, or too superficial? At most, those who do not know me very well will take it into their heads to judge me by the way I look.

Hence, it is my hope that you are not from among those “general masses” who evaluate from physical features alone. It would be pleasant to encounter an individual who is apart from “all the rest.” Like an esteemed teacher once told me, “Crowds don’t lead. They follow.”

Being a half-Maranao, half-Batanguena probably makes it easier to explain why I am of liberal mind but of conservative values. I am very fond of reading and love books. My leisurely interests lie in the Arts (ranging from Renaissance works, to surrealism, up to Japanese anime and manga) and in Music (RnB, Pop, Alternative, ballads). I find the majority of television programs dull, shallow, chauvinistic, and vulgar. Women parading and cavorting in skimpy outfits common in TV shows nowadays simply does not constitute “entertainment.” Really, whatever happened to good TV programming?! When available, good, intelligent talk with exchange of opinions suits me very well.

By nature, I am a perfectionist disguising as a laid-back person. I actually make an effort to appear simple despite my inherent compound personality. If I were to allow myself to debase myself by being the braggart, no good would come out of it. I sincerely wish to have a reputation that has both integrity and humility so that in the Hereafter, I will have no regrets.

Essentially, I am passive and prefer peace and sensible conversation rather than heated arguments that are not constructive. However, once given a chance to lead, I am easily a dominant but democratic person.

Despite my attempts at being passive, people would tend to say, “You have a dominant personality.” This puzzles me. Admittedly, I look people in the eye, I express my opinion, I do my best to be confident despite intimidating circumstances. Often I wonder if these things make me good or bad. All I want is to assert myself so that I may be heard.
