to my kindred-bolognese spirit and traveling companion... my, but didn't we have fun? i think we covered a continent, armed always with a bottle of sweet vermouth and a pack of galoises (though, come to think of it, i didn't smoke much then). anyway, I showed the bavarian a thing or two when i pawned his watch, and Ms. Mehran will never be the same after a box of wine had you mumbling expletives at the table, but in the end, the Turks nailed us with their lethal concotion, that libation whose milk-whiteness deceived us into thinking we could drink forever. you of course nearly died but, thanks to me, did not. here's to strange places and mispronounced words. dov'e dievole! viva bologna!
