Starting out as an experimental folk rock/dance metal/nerd pop duo, Sando eventually evolved into a quintet maintaining an animated but non-flamboyant, non-arrogant, youthfully exuberant, heartfelt, innocent happy rock, a lo-fi popart experimental rock with some dance pop highlights and traces of folk metal. The two-piece group was started by Sal and Allan during their college days. Initially, the duo's purpose was only to capture their music and to share with friends, utilizing analog tape recorders, second-rate stereo components, and lo-fi digital home recording.
In 2004, Sando was reinforced by Sal's bandmates from How Snails Help Save Lives, JP on guitars and Bromike on drums. Upon arrival of JP and Bromike, the band took a different approach in their undertaking, a new direction which involved not only writing but performing as well. The fifth member, Michael Tom, enlisted in the group replacing mild-mannered axeman, Joel Yu. Tom was a supposedly original member before the band decided to start as a duo.
The collaboration of these five can only be described as schizo-rock, owing to the different influences each member has; ranging from slacker rock and the golden music of the fifties, to disco and the 90's local rock scene, from classic rock icons like The Who, The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, to local greats like VST, Cinderella, to garage, glam, and alternative. Their music will impart to the listener tales of sorrow and of yearning, or put a smile on their faces if not make them giggle like a sissy.
All members in Sando are working class students of rock, everyday boys, simple and neat, determined to emerge naturally away from boredom, monotones, mediocracy, and redundancy.
