David Archuleta is a 17 year old kid from Salt Lake City, Utah who won Star Search before he even became a teenager. When he first showed up to audition, the seemingly shy David wowed the judges with his great voice and likable demeanor. David Archuleta impressed even more in the Hollywood rounds, showing off maturity beyond his years.

David draws inspiration from his faith and family, and says that his happiest moments are those spent with the ones he loves. He believes that being himself and being passionate about his music has pushed him further into the competition.

When asked what his toughest obstacle in life is, he replied, "Believing that I could really be successful in a singing career."

Despite that, he says that he wouldn't change a thing in his life. He said, "Even the minor things or problems are what influence who I am."

David also revealed that he is part Honduran. "I'm half-Honduran, and got to go to Honduras a few years ago with my family and see my mom's side of the family. I also sang at Carnaval there, a parade like Mardi Gras. It's also where my most embarrassing moment was."

As for his embarrassing moment, he reveals, "I was flown out to Honduras to perform for a charity event dinner, and the night I was supposed to sing I lost my voice. In the middle of the song my voice was gone and my mom came up to finish the song for me."

To avoid these embarrassing moments, David has a pre-performance ritual. He says, "Do some voice exercises and say a prayer."

After coming in as the runner-up on American Idol, Archuleta admitted that he was relieved to get back to his normal life. "It's just such a relief," he told Entertainment Weekly. "Because there's no more competition, and no more getting judged every performance you do. It's just, you know, finally great to be able to just start performing and be an artist."

Archuleta is currently making plans for his first album. He hopes that it will have a pop feel similar to artist Sarah Bareilles. Archuleta's single of "Imagine" debuted at number 16 on the digital sales chart, with 71,000 sold.
