It was not the moment of conception or the day I found out I was pregnant. It was in the moment of joy the night after she was born. I tried to rest that first night, after giving birth, but I couldn't sleep. I kept my baby with me most of the day. I counted her fingers and toes. I talked to her and rocked her. Later that night I put her to sleep and put her in the bedside bassinet. I turned off the lights and climbed into bed after checking on her several times, just to make sure she was okay. Then I got back up and just stared at her. Then I stayed up all night. I was absolutely overwhelmed, the world seemed to stop & nothing else mattered. Being a mother brings me a whole new meaning of life. My career & my priority have all changed. being a mother feels like the most important job in the world. I can't be perfect but I will always do my best.
